![]() I'm hoping that the paint is a modern luminous material that was added more recently. The original dial displays no evidence of radium burn, and the paint is white in color. The watch was serviced just before I got it, and the crystal and band were replaced. I also haven't found any information on the photosensitivity of radium-based paint (it doesn't seem that it should react to light), while mine becomes very bright for several minutes after being held up to an LED light. ![]() My watch, on the other hand, still glows, albeit faintly, in the dark. I do have my doubts, though- I've done a bit of research on the topic and have found that the zinc sulfide phosphor in radium-containing paint degrades over time, causing the paint to lose its luminosity after a few years. ![]() Due to the age of the watch, I'm worried that it may contain radium-226. I like the watch and enjoy wearing it, but after receiving it, I noticed the hand and hour markers are painted with luminous paint, something which the seller neglected to mention. The serial number is 10217104, putting it (assuming I interpreted the charts correctly) in early 1945 or perhaps late 1944. I chose a nice Omega with a stainless case and a 16 jewel, caliber R17.8SC 'white movement'. For Christmas this year I decided to get a decent older watch, since I haven't worn a timepiece in a while.
